Shadow Measures
October 11, 20260 Comments

That hour

where the day

 turns quiet

 and thin

 at the edge

 of the frame

where I stand

 wondering

 if the work

 I’ve laid is enough

 or just time spent

train

write

 work

 race

 love

How many winters

 do I carry

 before the light

 fades out

 and leaves me

 at dusk

 again asking

where the sun

went

I measure

 the shadow

from the curb

and pick

myself

 up

 and

move

on

Residue

Arriving early

to start slow

breathing

into the quiet

as the day unfolds

a sudden spill

a spreading stain

leaving an honest mess

behind

time wears away

the edges

leaving late

to finish slow

breathing

still

breathing

Small Hours
October 06, 20260 Comments

Fog horns

groans

as the inky skies

fill with mist

and the day

with all her unmet obligations

languishes

in reluctant

torn silk

we seek

rest

in

brief

gauzy

pause

only to rouse

irritated

finding

regret

breathing

our

air

the fog horn

moans

as the blue hour

stretches forward

into foreglow

and the night

with all her unmet dreams

vanishes

in forgotten

silks

Ultra Black
October 05, 20261 Comments

at a loss—

for words,

for want.

they leave me reaching:

touch,

pressure,

 a spark,

anything.

too late.

i tumble

 into torpor,

a forest of vertical obsidian,

nanotubes drinking the light.

here, the shadow

has no edge.

here, the dark

swallows

me

whole

we mistake the bloom for the tree

forgetting how deep roots

drink the dark
