A Predacious Tale
October 18, 2018 4 Comments

Once upon a time
on a table
far far away

lived
two
nine
lifers
lounging
in
laps
of
luxury

One
with
glamorous
fluff and frill
an
epic
tail
and
all
the
tales
to
tell

and
the
other

a
queen
of a certain age
regaled
in
onyx
coated
persimmon
paws
purring
and
Pas de bourrée

and so it was
that

Sir Lionel Wordsworth
and
Lady Sophie Velvet Pavlova

The Felinae Aristocracy

Ruled the roost
the sofa
and
the bed

Luring
lackey
with
much needed
biscuits
and
butting
of
head

Just
simple
job
for
a
simple
servant

serve
meat
she
would not
dain
herself
to
eat

knowing
 if one day
this servant
refused
to chop
the offal
or
failed
to
filet
the
veal
that the simple servant
herself
would indeed
become
their
meal

Inspired by the prompt

Once upon a time...

Meandering Bliss
October 22, 20171 Comments

Swinging
back and forth
thoughts
and
songs
on repeat

my first ballet
toehead in a tutu
touching the top
of my head
with my toes

Sapphire needle dreams
pirouetting
33 13 rpm
around my penché perfect six year old world

My lifelong friends
Chopin, Tchaikovsky and Bach
keep me
good company

We met once
 in Paris
for a clandestine
rehearsal
my breath halted
my heart
flic-flacs
in time with
the rosin dusted
pointe
of view

In my other life
my six foot self
stood en pointe
at center stage
performing
a pas de deux
with one who would
support me
lift me
catch me

This life
is about
box seats
and bubbles
and
Parlor pas de bourrée couru

I am at best
a living room ballerina

I am
Unstuck
my mind
wanders without
boundary
limited
only by definition
given from one
thought
to the next
one
Looking back
so close
I can
smell
the creaking cedar
chest of my childhood
dreams
as close
as your sleeping
face
is to mine
You steal
my time
breathing
my air
then
roll over
yet
another
day

Finding my Wild - OctPoWriMo
October 01, 20160 Comments

I am taking on a project this October.  A poem a day for 31 days.  I  have NaNoWriMo to prepare for but find the muze is more generous when I am regularly providing the attention that is craved.

This undertaking will require me to set aside my own inner critic and let the MuZe have her way with me.
This means it can get a bit messy.  Awkward.  And beautiful.

All works are drafts - feedback is appreciated as is kindness.  Thank you for sharing this journey with me...

Onto the path to my wild.
